Product Description

Tons of tiny little cucumbers that look like mini-watermelons but taste like a pleasantly sour cucumber...
65 days. Open pollinated. An unusual little fruit that you will not be able to stop snacking on. But, save them for pickling, too. Rampant but delicate vines get loaded with 1" green and white melons that are crunchy and have a slightly sour taste like they have already been pickled. Very refreshing, and perfect in salads, salsas, stir fries, and pickles. An ancient food from Mexico and Central America, where they have been used extensively since pre-Columbus times. Not a cucumber or melon botanically, so won't cross pollinate with either. Makes a lovely ground cover, but is best trellised for ease of harvesting. Kids love these.

We have a 6 plant minimum for shipping purposes. You can mix and match varieties to meet the minimum.

We ship every Monday and Tuesday, from late March through late May, to the 48 contiguous states. We schedule your shipment to arrive just after the last frost date for your area. We will send an email from our farm (lazyoxfarmyahoo.com) within 24 hours of receiving your order informing you of your shipping date. You are welcome to change the shipping date. Just let us know when you want them.

Our plants are sustainably raised in our own potting mix. We use only organic fertilizers and sprays if needed. We have been growing and selling plants since 1997.

Our plants are shipped in individual 3" deep pots. They are ready to be planted out in your garden.

We package our plants with extreme care so they arrive undamaged at your doorstep. Each plant is tucked into its own padded sleeve. The soil in each pot is covered so it will not spill out. A plant tag identifying the variety is included with each plant.

We will start accepting orders in early January. We will start shipping in late March, weather permitting.

  1. Love this plant 5 Star Review

Posted by on 26th Dec 2017

Regular cucumbers take up such space with not much yield. Once these climbing vines get going, will have cucamelons all season long. Pretty, tiny yellow blossoms. A bit fussy to get going, but well worth it. Cucumber meets lime, and super cute and tasty.

  2. Better than a regular cucumber 5 Star Review

I love these vines, and so do the bees. Tiny, very pretty yellow flowers, and ivy like leaves and, true to name, little watermelon looking fruit. Tastes like a cucumber and a lime had a baby. Very crisp and flavorful with a thin skin. I had fruit in six weeks and a continuous bloom. Fabulous!

Needs a trellis or net to climb and a bit of training. I read you can overwinter these roots, so I'll give it a shot but please have these again as I will put more in instead of regular cucumbers.
